In June I posted a tutorial for String Piecing for A Quilt Block A Day.
Finally, I’ve finished 100 blocks. Now I just have to decide how to put them together!
My first thought was to set them in a Chevron pattern.
It didn’t look as good on the design wall as it did in my mind, so I went more traditional, with X’s and O’s.
Hmmm……I’m liking that, but I just had to try one more setting. I call this Exploding Diamonds.
Oh, wait! Just one more……. How about if I do Offset Diamonds!?!

I guess I’m a traditionalist, I like the x’s and o’s the best. And I LOVE the prints on the strips you are giving away!!

I love the offset diamond. It looks elegant. I plan to look back at your blog after seeing this. I have been told that a string quilt is the way to go with a young sewer. You can always square the block!! This is gorgeous.
On another note: I need a design wall. What is yours made out of?

I love all your quilts, but I think the middle one is my favorite, so reminiscent of Sunshine and Shadow of the log cabin family. Keep up the great quilting!!!

Exploring diamonds….. I love the way you used two different center colors in your blocks. I’ll be trying that on my next quilt! The orange in the center is a nice touch.

I like the x’s and o’s… It is the style of quilt blocks that pulls me in. When I look at it one way I see one design, then look again and there is another design. A bit like a magic eye picture… keep squinting and see what pops out!

I love the x’s and o’s. It reminds me of an impressionist’s tile mosaic. I love how each of the blocks have either a white or an orange strip. I like the offset exploding diamond second best! Great job!

I really like the X + O pattern the very best. In fact I made 8 blocks after reading your tutorial. I ran out of the strips I was using so set it aside. Guess it wasn’t a “true” string quilt as I was trying to use certain colors. It was to be a duvet cover – maybe it still will someday!

I like them all, so my choice is based on fashion – chevrons are extremely fashionable now, and how often do you get to make a quilt that tops the style charts? Go with the chevrons and before you know it Michael Kors, Oscar de la Renta, and the rest of the New York/Paris crowd will be knocking on your door.

They are all great designs, but zig-zags are the cat’s meow right now! For example, if you will use it in a book, and want to make big sales…just sayin’…
But hip and cool are always fun, no matter how it will be used.
Maybe even with a solid sashing in zig shapes? Doesn’t Micheal Kors already check with you?

It SPARKLES like the diamond in my engagement ring. After 46 years, my diamond (and my husband) still SPARKLE to me, and I think “Exploding Diamonds” would keep its SPARKLE just like they have.

I like all the patterns! But the two that really draw my interest are the Exploding Diamonds and the Offset Diamonds. With the Offset Diamond being the most interesting, I guess it is because it is offset and you don’t always see that.

Well I’m partial to offset designs myself but 2nd choice is the X’x and O’s.
