I'm the daughter AND grand-daughter of fish mongers from S.F. If you've ever been to the Wharf, you know they sell fresh crab legs in little white paper boats to passers-by. San Francisians are VERY proud of their local fish...HOWEVER, my grandfather would fly Dungeness crab down from WA special for Christmas. Still, today, we have fresh Dungeness crab for Christmas Eve dinner. A tradition we love and will never let go. At least now, it's easier and cheaper to get than the ol' S.F. days! What the heck? I called my brother - it was stuffed to overflowing with Alaskan King Crab sent down by a friend for Thanksgiving. My brother's freezer was full and the overflow ended up at my Mom's! Didn't tempt me but I did steal some Alaskan halibut to take home to Jim. Karen, when I got to my Mom’s the freezer was taped shut. What the heck?
